Pupils at an Ellesmere Port primary school have been given £1,000 towards new reading books by a local housebuilder. Pupils at an Ellesmere Port primary school have been given £1,000 towards new reading books by a local housebuilder. Anwyl Homes made the donation towards a book scheme at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School, on Capenhurst Road, to help children engage with reading. It’s one of several grants distributed by Anwyl from its ‘Love from Anwyl’ funding pot to help local not-for-profit organisations close to its development at The Oaks at Rossbank. Head teacher Louise Finlay said:
“Learning to read is one of the most important skills a child will learn in his or her life. We want to children to enjoy learning too and develop a lifelong love of reading. Our new book scheme will provide them with a wide range of story books to inspire their learning and encourage them to read for pleasure both in and out of school. We’re very grateful to Anwyl for such a generous donation.”
Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said:
“There aren’t too many greater gifts than a really good book, so it was our pleasure to provide funding towards hundreds of new books for Our Lady Star of the Sea school. It’s been wonderful to hear about the enjoyment the book scheme has brought for the school children at all stages of their reading journey.”
Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to 130 new homes being built at The Oaks at Rossbank. It’s in addition to local investment agreed during the planning process. Anwyl’s sales centre and show homes are open on site and, alongside the new homes, a multi-use games area, football pitch and plenty of green open spaces will be created.
