Good causes in the Heywood area are in the spotlight thanks to our “Love From Anwyl” initiative.
We’ve shared £5,000 via the scheme, linked to the Whittle Brook Park development.
H'All Things Drama used its funding to help with replacing equipment and sourcing props for its upcoming shows.
Other successful applicants included Rochdale Mayfield ARLFC, First Heywood Scout Group, St John's Church, Hopwood CP School PTFA and Home-Start Rochdale and Bury.
Ginny Williamson, from H’All Things Drama, said: “Our theatre shows raise money for the Heywood community, with more than £2,000 donated in the last 12 months. We needed to replace some of our key equipment ready for our next productions and so applied for help “Love From Anwyl”. We’re grateful to Anwyl for the funding. It’s allowed us to add to our special effects on stage and to replace some of our older light fixtures. The two together have meant we can tackle scripts that otherwise wouldn't have been possible, taking us from two shows in a year to three. As we donate the whole of our ticket take to other local causes, this effectively means a third charity will receive a donation of around £900 each year moving forward, which is significant.”
The drama group meets on Sunday afternoons in Heywood centre at Trinity Methodist Church, Bethel Street, Heywood, around two miles from Whittle Brook Park.
The next show Peter and Wendy is due to be staged on November 9. Tickets are now on sale via https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/hall-things-drama.
Area sales manager Amy Houlihan said: “Performing arts groups like H’All Things Drama provide a creative outlet for so many people in the community both on stage and behind the scenes. It’s a great way to make friends and learn new skills while having fun. We were happy to be able to help H’All Things Drama with a grant towards replacing some of their equipment, which in turn will enable them to raise more money for other local good causes.”
Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to the 120 new homes we’re building across almost 15 acres of land on Manchester Road East in Heywood.
It’s in addition to almost £5.5 million worth of community contributions we’ve already agreed to. This includes over £2.7 million towards the cost of the new link road connecting the new community directly with junction 19 of the M62. Funding has also been allocated to education, transport, highways, green spaces and sports pitches.
