WORK is underway at Anwyl’s latest new homes development in Burscough, West Lancashire – with an award winning site manager at its helm. Chris Johnston, who lives in Southport, is heading up the construction team at Priory Gardens at Yew Tree Park and is bringing a strong quality ethic to the project to deliver 267 new homes over the next six years. th anniversary this year, Pride in the Job is the most highly regarded competition in the house-building industry. Judging for the awards is rigorous, with each site manager assessed across six key areas: consistency, attention to detail, leadership, interpretation of drawings and specifications, technical expertise, and health and safety. John Grime, Anwyl Homes Lancashire managing director, said: “This was Chris’ first ever Pride in the Job award and we’re extremely proud of him. Only 450 of 11,000 UK site managers reach the standard required to win an NHBC Quality Award so it’s an incredible achievement in its own right; but for Chris to do it in his first year of managing a housing construction site is unbelievable. “He’s now displaying his commitment to quality, consistency and strong leadership at Priory Gardens, which will bring extra confidence to homebuyers in an area where we haven’t built before.” At Priory Gardens, Chris, his team and an ‘army’ of sub-contractors will build a mix of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes, including some bungalows and 94 affordable homes. Every home will include an electric vehicle charging point and the development will feature several landscaped swales, ponds and wetland areas, together with a new park and landscaped public open space. The wider Yew Tree Park development, of which Priory Gardens forms part, will eventually comprise 580 homes, a care home, community centre and parkland. There are also plans for retail and industrial units, including a soft play centre and the new neighbourhood includes a potential school site. Approximately halfway between Preston and Liverpool, Burscough is a thriving community with shops, schools and services. The town has a sports and fitness centre and there are two excellent Tesco and Booths supermarkets in close proximity, as well as Burscough Wharf with its eateries, arts centre and artisan market. Ormskirk is only a few minutes’ drive away, offering an even wider choice for shopping and leisure. Two train stations locally provide direct services to Preston in less than 30 minutes, Manchester in around an hour, and via Ormskirk for Liverpool in 50 minutes.
