School play improvements supported by homebuilder

Children at Shavington Primary School will enjoy better play opportunities thanks to a £750 donation from our Love from Anwyl fund.

The money will support the school’s new OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) programme.

The award-winning school improvement scheme has been independently proven to improve the quality of play in primary schools.

By developing the school’s outdoor space through OPAL, Shavington Primary will be able to provide children with more varied and creative play opportunities. In addition, the improvements will allow the wider community to benefit from the facilities, with plans to host forest school sessions, outdoor competitions and town celebrations.

Headteacher Joanna Young said: “Play is such an important part of children’s learning and development and this donation from Anwyl will help us create more exciting, inclusive and sustainable opportunities for our pupils. The wider community will also benefit, which makes this support even more valuable.”

Phoebe Davies, head of regional marketing for Anwyl Homes, added: “The OPAL programme at Shavington Primary School is a brilliant initiative that will benefit not only the pupils but also families and groups across the local community. Helping to create more opportunities for outdoor play aligns perfectly with our ethos as a homebuilder as we’re also proud to be creating green space and a new play area for residents to enjoy at our nearby Queen’s Meadow development.”

The donation was made as part of our £5,000 Love from Anwyl Shavington fund, which is linked to our Queen’s Meadow development on Newcastle Road. So far, the fund has supported a range of local causes including Shavington Academy, local Scouts, Wybunbury Anglers’ Association and Shavington cum Gresty Parish Council.

The Love From Anwyl initiative is in addition to almost £600,000 worth of community contributions we have already agreed to as part of Queen’s Meadow, covering areas such as recreation, education, healthcare and community facilities.
