'Aldi Effect' Delivers a Boost as New Deeside Community Grows

The opening of a new Aldi supermarket in Deeside has been linked with increased demand for new homes, as The Airfields community continues to flourish.

Summers Bridge has been one of our most popular developments since Aldi’s arrival and we’re about to welcome our 100th new homeowner.

The opening of Aldi, alongside Greggs and electric vehicle charging facilities, has attracted new footfall to the area and led to renewed interest from those who want to join a thriving new neighbourhood.

In fact, it’s been our Cheshire and North Wales division’s “best seller” for the last six months - evidence, we believe, of the “Aldi effect”.

The phrase “the Aldi effect” was coined in 2016 when research found that being close to the store boosts house prices, in a similar way to the “Waitrose effect”.

We’re delivering 183 new properties at Summers Bridge on the former RAF Sealand site, including one-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom semi-detached homes and family-sized three and four-bedroom homes.

The new homes have received interest from first-time buyers, young professionals and families seeking well-connected, high-quality homes with essential amenities on the doorstep.

Current starting prices at Summers Bridge are from £174,995 for a one-bedroom Styal apartment, up to £324,995 for the four-bedroom detached Farndon.

Eligible homes up to £300,000 continue to benefit from Help to Buy Wales, enabling buyers to secure their home with a 5% deposit and a 20% equity loan from the Welsh Government. However, the scheme is due to end this year with September currently the final month for homebuyers to complete a move using Help to Buy Wales.
