Improvments to a multi-use games area in Rochdale have been carried out with help “Love From Anwyl”.
Hopwood C P School PTFA received £1,000 towards line painting at the sports facility via our ‘Love From Anwyl’ initiative linked to the Whittle Brook Park development.
PTFA chair Alison Mitchell said: “The multi-use games area (MUGA) behind Hopwood Primary School on Hopwood Park is utilised daily by the school for PE activities and outdoor play. Outside of school hours it’s open for use by the community and you’ll often find children and families using this space for sporting activities throughout the year. As a PTFA we have been proud to support the improvements of the MUGA, which has recently been recoated. With Anwyl’s help the lines for the different sports pitches have been repainted too. Their funding has benefitted hundreds of children at Hopwood Primary and the wider community who use the area too.”
Other successful applicants included Rochdale Mayfield ARLFC, First Heywood Scout Group, St John's Church, Home-Start Rochdale and Bury and H'all Things Drama (HATD).
Area sales manager Amy Houlihan said: “We’ve discovered lots of great community projects in the Heywood area through the Love From Anwyl initiative. The MUGA at Hopwood Park is a fantastic resource and well-used by local children. We were happy to be able to help Hopwood Primary School carry out improvements to the area so that children can continue to enjoy playing a variety of sports and games as part of an active lifestyle.”
Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to the 120 new homes we’re building across almost 15 acres of land on Manchester Road East in Heywood.
It’s in addition to almost £5.5 million worth of community contributions we’ve already agreed to. This includes over £2.7 million towards the cost of the new link road connecting the new community directly with junction 19 of the M62. Funding has also been allocated to education, transport, highways, green spaces and sports pitches.
