Home builder pledges £1,500 to Foodbank

A local homebuilder has committed £1,500 over three years to support Middlewich and District Foodbank. Anwyl Homes will donate £500 per year to the charity, which is helping families in need in the local area from its base at Middlewich Police Station, on Queen Street. A family-run business, Anwyl is building nearby at Victoria Mills in Holmes Chapel. The company previously donated £3,300 to the foodbank in 2021, with the help of its suppliers and subcontractors, as part of its 90 th anniversary charity pledges and to assist in the wake of the Covid pandemic. The local foodbank is affiliated to The Trussell Trust, which is working to combat hunger and poverty in the UK through its network of foodbanks.

Thomas Bradley, senior sales manager at Anwyl Homes, said:

“We always try to support the communities in which we build, and Middlewich and District foodbank is there for those most in need. The charity works tirelessly to provide a lifeline to families across Middlewich, Holmes Chapel and the surrounding areas.”
The foodbank provides emergency food and support to people in poverty, while it’s affiliated to the Trussell Trust, which is also campaigning for change to end the need for foodbanks in the UK.

Sally Howard, trustee of Middlewich and District Foodbank, said:

“We are fundraising to secure a new home for the foodbank. Our current premises provide us with a short-term solution so we need assistance with securing a more permanent space. Rental charges are way in excess of our ability to afford, meaning the sponsorship from Anwyl makes all the difference to our campaign. We are so grateful for their support and financial contribution."
