A family of five who had to live apart for almost seven months have been reunited in a brand new home in Crewe.
Keyworkers Alana and Dan Green and their three children Libby, 17, Keane, 11, and Paige, 10, lived in two separate houses with the children’s grandmothers over lockdown having sold their previous house the day they put it on the market back in February. Alana, who works for the NHS in the community, and Dan, a service engineer, “barely saw each other” – until they moved into their ‘happy ever after’ home at our Alexandra Gardens – becoming the first residents on the new development. It was an unfortunate twist of fate during a time that should have been cause for celebration. After marrying almost within sight of their new home last year, at the Hunters Lodge Hotel, the newlyweds placed a reservation on their new Anwyl home in their dream location. With a completion date set for October, the couple gratefully moved in with their respective mums - Alana, with her children Libby and Keane, and Dan with his daughter Paige - to excitedly wait for their new home to be built. Like many, the Covid-19 lockdown and extra pressures at work sadly stopped them being together properly for months. Alana said:
It was a really tough time, very stressful. But thankfully we’re all back together now and we are so happy to be in our new home.
The couple chose to buy a new-build after maintenance bills on their old 1930s semi became too much, with Alana having to set aside money every month just for repairs, home improvements and upkeep. She said:
Paying for endless jobs on our old house was costing so much, we were constantly putting money into it. A friend had bought a new home and had done lots of research, she told us Anwyl had a great reputation. She was right, and I can’t recommend them enough. The care from Elaine and Caroline in the sales office has been amazing, they’ve been there every step of the way, keeping us up to date even on days off. We’re delighted with the specification of the house and it has everything we need.
The family have purchased a four-bedroom ‘Stratford’ at Alexandra Gardens, off Sydney Road, and have recommended the development to “everyone they know”. Alana added:
We feel very lucky to be the first to move in. At the moment it feels like our very own site. But we can’t wait until two sets of friends move in next door and next door but one! It’s right in the middle of both of our mums’ homes, we can now walk the children to school and Libby has just got a placement at Kids Planet, the nursery on the same road. Dan and I have always wanted to live on Sydney Road. We both grew up very nearby and we got married pretty much next door. It’s where our hearts are.
Alexandra Gardens is a sought-after development of three and four-bedroom homes within walking distance of Crewe town centre, with handy access to the M6 motorway and close to more rural areas like Haslington and Sandbach. The two luxurious show homes, styled by Lifestyle Interiors, recently opened to homebuyers and offer an opportunity to view Anwyl’s superb specification close up. As a family run business, Anwyl takes a thoughtful approach to creating its developments, focusing on building communities that include new homes, green spaces, play areas and more. Thomas Bradley, Anwyl’s sales manager for Cheshire, said:
It’s great to welcome Alana and Dan and their family to Alexandra Gardens. For those who wish to follow in their footsteps and become part of this brand new community, we have a choice of designs available. There is a host of facilities on the doorstep from schools and nurseries to shops, sports clubs and healthcare, not to mention excellent transport links to the rest of the North West and beyond.
