# Housebuilder funds children's emergency care unit in Crewe
25 Jan 2022 [Amy Lloyd](https://blog.anwylhomes.co.uk/blog/author/amy-lloyd)
New equipment is helping provide an improved experience for children at a Crewe hospital, after funding was provided by a local homebuilder. New equipment is helping provide an improved experience for children at a Crewe hospital, after funding was provided by a local homebuilder. Anwyl Homes donated £672 following a request by staff at Leighton Hospital’s new Children’s Emergency Care Unit. The money will fund sensory distraction equipment for the assessment rooms. It’s one of the donations made from the £5,000 ‘Love from Anwyl’ funding pot to help local not-for-profit organisations close to the development at Alexandra Gardens, on Sydney Road.
> Emma Robertson, charity manager at the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity, said: “When children need emergency medical care it can be a very scary time for them and their families. Strange surroundings, noises, people and equipment can affect how children cope with a visit to hospital and how they feel about it once they go home. “Anwyl’s funding has paid for a new projector and image wheel so children can watch calming rotating images like animals, stars, bubbles and even superheroes while in the assessment rooms. This state-of-the-art equipment is over and above basic NHS provision and will help us provide a calming environment for children of all ages so that their experience is the best it can be.”
Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity is a registered charity that supports the work of Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes in Cheshire, said:
> “This new equipment will help to create a more relaxed environment for children at Leighton Hospital’s new Emergency Department. The staff are doing some amazing work to create better experiences for children who visit the hospital for treatment, and we are so pleased to have been able to lend our support to this very worthy cause.”
Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to new homes being built at Alexandra Gardens. For more information visit [www.anwylhomes.co.uk/alexandra](https://www.anwylhomes.co.uk/our-developments/alexandra-gardens/)
