Young footballers in Crewe have been kitted out in style thanks to a donation from a local housebuilder. Anwyl Homes has provided £1,000 of funding to Crewe Athletic Junior Football Club under 14s for new away kits as well as training wear for players and coaches. Providing grassroots opportunities for under-14s, the team trains every Wednesday at Ruskin Community High School and plays their home matches at Willaston White Star home ground at Tricketts, Lane.
Aarron Jones, team manager, said: “We were in real need of new away kits and training wear so the funding from Anwyl came at a great time and the team has really been enjoying playing in their new colours. The generous support of local businesses means we can continue to provide opportunities for young people to get involved in sport in the local community. “We are currently at full capacity for spaces within our team but the league is always on the lookout for new players to join and play alongside current members in the South Cheshire Youth League.”
The donation is one of those made from the £5,000 ‘Love from Anwyl’ funding pot to help local not-for-profit organisations close to Anwyl’s Alexandra Gardens development, on Sydney Road.
Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Grassroots sports teams are a key part of bringing any community together. They help children to make new friends, stay active and become engaged with their community. “We’re delighted to have been able to provide £1,000 to Crewe Athletic Juniors under 14s so they can sport new away kits for the season.”
