School's Choc-Tastic fundraiser to raise money for new trim trail

Handforth Grange school pupils “trailed” the new play equipment at Anwyl’s, The Fairways development A Handforth school has welcomed a donation from a local homebuilder towards a campaign to raise money for a new ‘trim trail’. The Friends of Handforth Grange School are hoping to raise £13,000 for new equipment on the school field. Having already raised an impressive £11,000, the school has received £500 from Anwyl Homes towards prizes for the school’s ‘golden ticket’ giveaway, which will be hidden in chocolate bars being sold at school in December.

Jessica Hall, a member of Friends of Handforth Grange, said:

“Over the past two years we have raised just over £11,000 through different fundraising events and we would really like to try and reach our goal before the end of the year.”
To coincide with the launch of the new ‘Wonka’ movie in December, the Friends came up with a novel idea to raise funds by launching the sale of chocolate ‘golden ticket’ bars’, with a chance to win some fabulous prizes just in time for Christmas.

Jessica added:

“We thought this would be a fun idea for the school children to get involved in as everyone knows and loves the famous Roald Dahl story.
“We’ll be using Anwyl’s generous donation towards buying fantastic prizes, in which we are hoping to include a top brand games console, £100 shopping vouchers and tickets for family activities/days out.”

Graeme Gibb, sales director at Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said:

“We’re always looking for ways to support the local community around our developments and are so pleased we can help out The Friends of Handforth Grange with their brilliant fundraising efforts. The trim trail will be a great addition to the school. We wish the school lots of luck selling the ‘golden ticket’ bars!”
The school are looking for more businesses to assist them by providing funds for prizes that can be won by those lucky enough to find a golden ticket. To donate towards the school’s fundraiser please email: friendsofhandforthgrange@hotmail.com.

Mrs Booth, headmistress of Handforth Grange, said:

“At Handforth Grange we encourage the children to have a healthy lifestyle through extra-curricular sports clubs, our daily run and opportunities to take part in sports tournaments. We are always looking for ways to further develop our playground spaces and the Friends of Handforth Grange team have done an amazing job raising so much money towards the project with the support of our parents and carers. The children have been involved in choosing the design for the trim trail and are really looking forward to its installation when we hit our target!”
Anwyl, building nearby at The Fairways, has previously teamed up with Handforth Grange school when pupils “tested out” the new play equipment at the development.
