A Wrexham housebuilder is helping secondary school students to learn how to create homes of the future. Anwyl Homes has funded new teaching supplies for use by students at Castell Alun High School, in Hope, to develop skills in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects. The school has purchased kits that will provide an insight into how smart technology may be used in homes of the future to make them more sustainable. Teacher Phil Barnes said:
“The plan is to use these kits to drive student understanding during classes and at our STEM afterschool club. “The smart home kits give them a chance to create their own model homes and develop electronic technology to sense things like temperature, sound and movement in the home. This can then be used in different areas to create a more sustainable place to live. The children will be looking at creating things like smart wardrobes, clothes racks and windows, using voice activated technology and improving home security, all while learning practical build and programming skills. “We’re really grateful to Anwyl for providing the funding, which will truly make a big difference to this year's STEM project plans.”

We hope we’re helping to inspire the next generation to pursue green careers.”
