The homebuilder donated 10 trees, timber stakes and tree ties to Garstang St Thomas School to help children learn about nature. Head teacher Jim Blakely said:
We’re aiming to create a usable wooded and wetland area that will provide an attractive home all year round for a variety of birds, insects, plants and mammals. We contacted Anwyl as a local business to see if they could help. The children from year one had great fun lending a hand with planting the trees as part of their science lesson. Their feedback was that the best part about the lesson was the worms they discovered while digging.
The children were assisted with the tree planting by Anwyl area sales manager Imogen Suffell, who’s responsible for overseeing the sales team at the nearby Cross Fields development. Imogen said:
It’s important that children learn about the natural environment around them and we were pleased to help Garstang St Thomas School by donating trees. The children were really enthusiastic about planting the trees and providing homes for birds and insects. Plus, they had great fun in the mud too.
For those hoping to turn over a new leaf and put down roots in a new home in the area, Anwyl’s Cross Fields development is just a five-minute drive from the school. It offers a choice of three and four-bedroom homes, with current prices from £224,995. Show homes at Cross Fields are open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5.30pm.
