Work starts on 157 homes in Warrington

Work on the latest phase of the redevelopment of a former RAF base in Warrington is underway with homes ready to move into from the autumn.

We acquired the 12.6 acre parcel of land from Omega Warrington Ltd (OWL), a subsidiary of M2 Group Ltd (trading as Miller Developments) in September.

Reserved matters approval to build 157 homes was received from Warrington Borough Council last month.

It represents phase five of the successful Omega redevelopment of the former 600-acre RAF Burtonwood airbase on the north-west edge of Warrington. A two-form entry primary school, 35-acre country park and a commercial hub are all complete and operational as part of the wider masterplan, providing excellent amenities for residents.

Known as Eagles Green, in a nod to the base’s former motto, our development will provide 118 private sale properties and 39 affordable homes to cater for local need.

Managing director of our Lancashire business John Grime said: “There’s a real demand for new homes in the Warrington area as is evident from the volume of enquiries we’ve received about Eagles Green since we acquired the land last autumn. Work on site has only just started, but already more than 300 people have registered interest in the homes."

“There’ll be up to 70 people working on site at a time so that we can deliver the high quality, energy efficient homes people want and need. It’s likely we’ll be building here through to summer 2027, providing jobs for dozens of people on site and supporting many more in the supply chain.”

Construction is being overseen by site manager Ian Tomlinson, who’s worked in the industry for more than 30 years.

The development will include a good choice of private sale properties with one to five-bedroom designs, alongside two and three-bedroom affordable homes.

Homes will include improved accessibility requirements and electric vehicle charging points, with heating and hot water to be provided via air source heat pumps.

The first homes are due to be released for sale in spring and we anticipate starting to welcome residents into their new homes from late summer.

Potential purchasers can register their interest in the development via our website.
