Work starting on long-awaited new homes in Carrington

Written by Anwyl Homes | 5 Oct 2026

Construction of 139 new homes in Carrington, an early part of a wider major regeneration scheme, will soon be underway.

We recently received reserved matters approval to develop a 15-acre site off Manchester Road, to be known as “The Meadow”

It forms part of the wider Carrington Village – one of the UK’s largest regeneration schemes, which is transforming the former Shell Refinery site in Trafford, Greater Manchester, into a sustainable new community. The masterplan for the 2,000-acre site proposes 5,000 homes, community facilities and commercial accommodation.

We worked extensively with Trafford Council’s planning team to incorporate the Council’s design code requirements in its plans. This has produced an exciting design-led scheme, which will set a strong early precedent for the remainder of the wider development – both in terms of built form and landscaping proposals.

John Grime, managing director of Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: “We’re pleased to have secured planning for our section of Carrington Village and are looking forward to playing our part in this landmark regeneration scheme. We’re now eager to start work on site in the coming weeks to deliver a range of high quality, bespoke designed, contemporary homes in a prominent position within the wider new neighbourhood. As a responsible homebuilder we’re committed to delivering sustainable development. This includes providing a Biodiversity Net Gain of 5.06 habitat units and using photovoltaic panels or air source heat pumps to power the homes.”

The Meadow will offer a choice of two, three and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached homes, with electric vehicle charging facilities.

“We have a database of around 1,700 potential purchasers who’ve expressed interest in the 139 new homes we’ll be building. Some of them first enquired when we acquired the land and we’ll be updating them of our progress and our launch plans. Because of the volume of enquiries received we intend to launch off plan from a temporary sales centre this winter,” John added.

It’s anticipated the first homes at The Meadow will be ready to move into next summer.

Along with new homes, we will also create public open space for residents to enjoy. Existing mature trees will provide a green frontage and entrance to the site, plus extensive new landscaping will be added to create tree-lined streets leading to two feature pocket parks and a central local equipped area of play.

To support the growth of the new community, we will deliver a package of investment including around £237,000 (indexed) for primary education facilities, plus contributions towards a travel plan coordinator and the community infrastructure levy.

The Meadow forms part of our targeted push to deliver much-needed new homes in the Manchester city region. We’re currently building 120 homes at Whittle Brook Park in Heywood and 65 homes at Dalton Fields in Chorlton.
