Support For Chorlton Community with Funding Towards Lifesaving Defibrillator

Written by Anwyl Homes | 17 Apr 2026

A vital new community defibrillator has been installed at St Margaret’s Centre and Playing Fields in Chorlton with help from a £1,200 donation from us.

The publicly accessible AED (automated external defibrillator) is located outside the centre, and provides essential emergency support for local residents, centre users, sports groups and vulnerable visitors.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is one of the leading causes of death in the UK, and immediate use of an AED can increase chances of survival significantly. With the nearest existing unit more than half a mile away, the new addition will address a critical gap in emergency care and ensure lifesaving equipment is available in Chorlton.

Jenny Appleby from St Margaret’s Centre said: “This funding towards our new defibrillator will make a huge difference to the safety of everyone who uses our centre and the surrounding area. Having an AED on-site means that in the event of a cardiac emergency, help is literally moments away. We’re incredibly grateful to Anwyl Homes for recognising this need and supporting a project that could save someone’s life.”

St Margaret’s Centre and Playing Fields serves a wide range of community groups from football teams and exercise classes to social groups for older adults, many of whom are at heightened risk of cardiac events. The outdoor, secure-access AED will be available 24/7 to the public and is registered with The Circuit, the National Defibrillator Network.

The donation forms part of Love From Anwyl, a voluntary community fund designed to support local charities, organisations and neighbourhood groups close to our Dalton Fields development.

Phoebe Davies, head of regional marketing at Anwyl Homes, said: “As Dalton Fields becomes home to more residents, we’re committed to giving back to the wider community and supporting projects that deliver real local benefit. The installation of an AED at St Margaret’s Centre will strengthen emergency provision and offer reassurance to thousands of people who use the facilities each year. We’re very proud to play a part in bringing this important resource to the area.”
