One of our site managers has achieved an incredible third consecutive win at the prestigious Pride in the Job “Quality Awards” from the National Home Building Council (NHBC).
Neil Lally, from Stoke, has been recognised for his outstanding work at Queen’s Meadow in Shavington. Following the completion of the development, Neil has now moved on to manage our brand new Weaver Forge venture at Maylands Park in Nantwich.
One of just 450 winners selected from more than 8,000 site managers across the UK, the award places Neil among the top 5% in the country.
He said: “I was really pleased to win again. I’ve had people I’ve not spoken to for a while calling to congratulate me.
“I don’t come to work to win NHBC awards; I come to work to do my best and do it right, and from that the awards have followed.”
Neil joined the housebuilding industry at just 16 as a bricklaying apprentice and has worked in the sector for over four decades, including more than 30 years as a site manager. Since joining Anwyl three years ago, he has achieved a remarkable run of success, winning a Pride in the Job Quality Award every year.
He added: “It’s great to complete a site like Queen’s Meadow and leave it looking good. It’s also exciting to start on a new development, and Weaver Forge is going to be lovely.
“I take a lot of pride in what I do. When I eventually retire, I want to look back on the sites I’ve helped to build and be able to say I did it correctly. I’m not ready to retire yet though, not while I’m still enjoying it!”
Just 28 private sale homes are being built at Weaver Forge, part of the wider Maylands Park development. There’s a wide selection of properties available, from apartments to family-sized homes. Homes at Weaver Forge are currently being sold off plan, with a sales centre due to open on site later this summer.
Now in its 45th year and widely regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry, Pride in the Job celebrates site managers’ dedication to raising construction standards, showcasing best practice and rewarding excellence.
Judging is rigorous, with entrants assessed across six key areas including consistency, attention to detail, leadership, technical expertise and health and safety.
Mark Calvert, managing director of Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said:
“Winning a Pride in the Job Quality Award is a fantastic achievement, but to secure three in a row is truly exceptional. Neil’s passion for housebuilding, even after more than 40 years in the industry, is clear to see and is reflected in the high standards he consistently delivers. We’re proud of what he has achieved at Queen’s Meadow and excited to see him bring that same expertise to our new Weaver Forge development.”
The Quality Award winners will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in October, with the national Supreme Award winners announced in January.
