ESSENTIAL maintenance works at the 29th Ormskirk Burscough St Johns Scout Group have been carried out with funding from Anwyl Homes.
The Scout group was among the successful applicants to receive funding ‘Love From Anwyl’, a community pot supporting good causes near the Priory Gardens development.
The homebuilder gifted £1,500 to the Scouts to carry out improvements to the Scout hut on School Lane, Burscough.
Group chairman Chris Nevill explained: “Our building is regularly used by dozens of young people for both Scouting and Guiding activities. Our rear security and fire escape doors were in poor condition and urgently need replacing. As a registered charity we have limited funds and so we applied for help via the Love from Anwyl funding pot so that the young people could continue their activities in safety. Thanks to Anwyl’s generosity we’ve been able to replace the fire doors and make improvements to the kitchen.”
The Love From Anwyl Fund is linked to Priory Gardens, on Chancel Way, where Anwyl is building 267 new homes. It’s a voluntary scheme, offered in addition to local investment agreed during the planning process.
Anwyl area sales manager Amy Houlihan said: “Love From Anwyl was born of a desire to help the community groups that help make the Burscough area a great place to live as part of our commitment to being a thoughtful homebuilder. We awarded grants to a range of projects supporting the emotional, physical and mental well-being of local residents, such as the Scouts. Scouting is a great way for young people to meet new friends and develop skills, including team building. We’re pleased to have been able to help fund improvements to the Scout hut so that they continue their fun programme of activities.”
Other good causes in Burscough and the surrounding area to benefit from the support of Love From Anwyl include Sporting Challenge, Burscough Village Primary School, 45th Burscough Methodist Scouts and Community Lives Matter.
