A new children’s play area has opened in Crewe after being given the thumbs up by pupils from a local school. Children from Hungerford Primary Academy tried out the new equipment at Anwyl Homes’ Alexandra Gardens development, off Sydney Road. The new facilities include climbing frames, complete with climbing wall and slide, new swings, a roundabout, and an adjacent multi-use games area for sports such as football, basketball and netball. The playground and games area are now open for use by new residents on the development as well as the wider Sydney Road community. School principal Anna Wheaver said:
“The children really put the new equipment through its paces to try out all the different activities on offer and the playground was deemed a resounding hit. Lots of children who live on the development attend our school so it’s been great to have built a relationship with Anwyl since the beginning.”
In 2021 Anwyl donated £1,000 to Hungerford Primary Academy in Crewe towards upgrading the school’s own playground equipment as part of its ‘Love from Anwyl’ fund. The home builder had previously donated a number of bird boxes too. Alexandra Gardens also displays artwork that was provided by year five and six pupils at the school when the development first opened that reflect their favourite places around Crewe. Anwyl’s 249-home development has been popular with first time buyers, families and downsizers.
Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said:
“The new community at Alexandra Gardens is really blossoming and it’s wonderful to be able to open the new play area to the public so it can be enjoyed by the wider community.
“We’re really grateful to the children from Hungerford Primary Academy who came and tried out the equipment and gave it their seal of approval.
“Our homes here are proving really popular, and that’s partly due to the real community feel that’s being created, which appeals to families and couples as well as professionals who benefit from Crewe’s excellent transport links.”
Current availability at Alexandra Gardens includes a choice of three and four-bedroom detached homes with prices from £219,995. Farndon and Henley style show homes are open for viewing to help inspire buyers considering moving to the Sydney Road development.
