Stockport's affordable housing supply could be given a boost by our proposals for 152 new homes in Woodley. 

We’ve submitted plans for a 100% affordable housing site, off Gravel Bank Road, which, if approved, would help address a significant shortage of homes across the borough.

The application, lodged with Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, proposes 152 affordable homes on a 23.8-acre site.

The scheme is being brought forward by Anwyl Partner Projects, our specialist affordable housing arm, with Great Places Housing Group as the intended Registered Provider partner.

The proposed development would deliver a mix of affordable homes designed to meet local housing needs, supporting Stockport's efforts to increase housing delivery. The site is draft allocated for housing within the emerging Stockport Local Plan and has been identified as a suitable location to help meet the area's growing demand for affordable homes.

"This is an important milestone for the scheme following months of careful design work and engagement with local people, including taking on board feedback from the pre-planning consultation.

"Subject to planning approval, these 152 affordable homes would help meet the growing demand for affordable housing in Stockport. We're already delivering more than 350 affordable homes across the borough through a range of tenures and, if approved, this development would allow us to build on that work and provide more local people with a place they can be proud to call home."

Anwyl has also worked alongside Asteer Planning, APD, Focus Transport Planning and TPM Landscape on the application.

The proposal forms part of Anwyl Partner Projects' growing pipeline of affordable housing developments across North Wales and the North West. The business was launched to provide a land-led delivery model for Registered Providers, identifying and promoting sites solely for affordable housing.

As well as helping tackle local housing need, the development would generate employment throughout the construction phase and support investment in the local economy.

Subject to planning approval, the first homes could be handed over to Great Places in late 2027.
