New Congleton development opens its doors

Written by Anwyl Homes | 30 May 2025

Homebuyers will be welcomed to our new sales centre at Elmy Fields in Congleton on Friday, June 6.

We’re opening our doors on site for the first time as the initial wave of homes goes on sale.

Three and four-bedroom designs are among those in the first release at Elmy Fields. Interested purchasers are being urged to book an appointment with our sales team.

The development will eventually feature a total of 119 homes across 13 acres, on land off Wolstenholme Elmy Way.

Named Elmy Fields after pioneering women’s rights campaigner Elizabeth Clarke Wolstenholme Elmy (1833 –1918), work started on the development back in February. The sales launch marks another key milestone, with the first homes due to be ready to move into in early 2026.

Designed around areas of green space, natural landscaping and footpaths, the scheme features four acres of public open space including a play area.

Thomas Bradley, senior sales manager for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Our new homes at Elmy Fields are in superb location, close to Congleton town centre’s fantastic amenities and with easy access to the link road. A new pedestrian crossing over the link road will connect residents to the town.

“The homes themselves are traditionally styled from the outside. Modern interiors offer high standards of energy efficiency with well insulated floors, walls and ceilings and solar panels. The development will appeal to a wide range of buyers from first time homeowners and growing families to professionals and downsizers looking for any easy to maintain home. We’ll be releasing prices at the launch event.”

As part of the section 106 agreement linked to the planning application, we’ll contribute around £1.9 million towards the new Congleton Road Link Road, which was named Wolstenholme Elmy Way when it opened in 2021.

The road has been funded in part by developer contributions linked to new homes in the town. Our proposed payment towards the link road would be in addition to an anticipated education contribution of around £800,000.

We have a strong reputation in the town of Congleton, having completed our Somerford Grove development in 2017.
