New Chester community is complete

We’ve completed the transformation of a long-vacant site in Chester into a thriving new neighbourhood of 142 homes.

Located off Clifton Drive, Deva Green has brought a mix of high-quality two, three and four-bedroom homes to the edge of the city. It includes 21 affordable properties, alongside new green spaces, wildlife habitats and significant investment in the local community.

Work to regenerate the neglected 13-acre site, within walking distance of Chester city centre and the Greyhound Retail Park, began in autumn 2021. Almost five years later, it’s become a vibrant new neighbourhood.

Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: "The completion of Deva Green is a significant milestone for Anwyl and represents everything we strive to achieve when creating a new community.

"What had become an unused site has been transformed into an attractive place that people are proud to call home. Alongside delivering much-needed new homes, we've invested in local infrastructure, supported community groups and enhanced biodiversity across the site, creating lasting benefits for residents of our homes and the wider Chester community."

Linked to the development, we’ve contributed £175,000 towards improvements to local playing facilities and the relocation of changing rooms, paid almost £315,000 towards education provision and a further £60,000 for local highways improvements.

Environmental enhancements have also formed a key part of the scheme. New ponds have been created to encourage amphibians and other wildlife, while native planting, bird boxes and bat boxes have all been incorporated in the new neighbourhood to support local biodiversity and create attractive green spaces for residents.

In addition to our planning obligations, we offered a voluntary Love From Anwyl fund to support organisations serving the local area. More than £5,000 was distributed to community groups and charities, including Soul Kitchen, KidsBank Chester, City of Chester Swimming & Water Polo Club, NW Panthers Netball team, Live! Cheshire and St Mark's Brownies.

The funding helped organisations deliver a range of projects and services benefiting local people, from supporting families facing hardship and providing opportunities for young people, to encouraging participation in sport and community activities.

Graeme added: “Deva Green has proven highly popular with buyers thanks to its combination of quality homes, energy-efficient design and convenient location. Residents benefit from easy access to Chester’s extensive leisure, shopping and cultural attractions, while also enjoying the open countryside surrounding the development.

“For those who may have missed out in Chester, our Summers Bridge development is just a few miles away in Deeside, and features a wide choice of new homes, some of which are available to purchase with a Help to Buy – Wales equity loan.”

As a family-run business, we continue to focus on creating developments that combine quality homes with green space to create vibrant new communities.
