Meet the first residents of Whittle Brook Park

John, Paul and their dog cooper

As the very first residents of our Whittle Brook Park development in Heywood, John and Paul are enjoying life in their new energy efficient home and seeing the new community develop around them.

Why a new build home?

After looking at a range of properties, including older ones and other new builds, John and Paul moved from an old Victorian villa to one of our new build homes in Heywood.

Ease of living was a key factor.

“We wanted something that we didn’t have to do DIY on. I’m not particularly good at it,” Paul said.

More space inside and out, including a big garden, was also important for the couple.

“Anwyl in particular we just felt were better and had more space with higher ceilings. The specification appeared to be higher than in some of the houses we looked at,” Paul added.

“The quality compared to some of the other new builds we visited was noticeable from the moment we walked into the property.”

Their new home also ticked the box for energy efficiency.

Their new home has solar panels, with heating and hot water provided via an air source heat pump instead of a traditional gas boiler.

Paul said: “We’ve already seen the benefits of the solar panels.”

John added: “We find this home loads warmer than our previous house.”

Their new home has a private driveway with an electric vehicle charging point. “Paul had been charging his car on his mum and dad’s drive for about three years. We have our own drive now which comes with an electric port, which is brill,” John said.

Location, location, location

As with many home buyers, location was a key factor for John and Paul when they were looking for a new home in Heywood. “It’s near our son’s school and all of our friends and family. After we started to look at the plans we started to like this estate more and more,” Paul added.

Whittle Brook Park is part of a wider new community which will eventually feature employment space, a local centre, new primary school, extensive public open space and sports pitches.

Customer care

They described the sales and site teams as “absolutely fantastic” and said they’d had a “great experience” throughout their homebuying journey.

“We knew we had the benefit of being the first people to move in so we had the full attention of the whole site with no other people living here initially. They’ve been brilliant sending people round fixing tiny little niggles and actually things we hadn’t noticed,” Paul said.

“Everyone has been super pleasant. You hear about horror stories about new builds but we are the complete other end of that scale. We have had a nothing but a pleasant experience with Anwyl.”
