It's a wrap for major Rhyl development

The final phase of Parc Aberkinsey in Rhyl is now complete, marking the end of almost 15 years of us building in the town.

As a company founded in Rhyl 95 years ago, we are proud to have created a new community of around 500 homes, across more than 50 acres of land to the south east of the town.

Mathew Anwyl, housing managing director for Anwyl, said: “The completion of Parc Aberkinsey marks the end of an era for us in Rhyl. We’re really proud of the new village we’ve created here and of the benefits we’ve delivered for the wider community.”

We started work at Parc Aberkinsey towards the end of 2010 and welcomed our first residents in spring 2011.

Founded as a joinery company in Rhyl in 1930 by Thomas Anwyl and his son Walter, we now have the fourth generation of the Anwyl family at the helm. Having moved into housebuilding in the 1940s, we have grown into a regional company operating across North Wales and the North West of England, with our headquarters now in Flintshire.

“Rhyl will always be a special place for us as it’s where our roots are as a family business, and we’ve been building homes here since the 1960s, added Mathew. “We’re proud that Parc Aberkinsey will now be part of our legacy here.”

The development, off Dyserth Road, has had an estimated economic impact of around £13million* made up of increased tax revenue, including circa £978,000 in increased council tax revenue. It has also supported 1,688* jobs during construction and delivered more than 100 brand new affordable homes.

Across the development, we’ve provided a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes in a mix of mews, semi-detached and detached styles. There are also three new play areas and more than eight acres of open space for residents and the wider community to enjoy.

We agreed a series of contributions to support the growth of the neighbourhood during the planning process. Funding linked to the fifth and final phase includes £416,000 towards local primary education and £48,000 towards secondary education.

The homes benefit from being on the edge of an established residential community with the amenities of Rhyl close by, while enjoying an open aspect and views over the surrounding countryside and farmland.
