# Cricket Club scores support from Anwyl
30 Aug 2022 [Amy Lloyd](https://blog.anwylhomes.co.uk/blog/author/amy-lloyd)
Holmes Chapel Cricket Club has been bowled over by a donation from Anwyl Homes. Holmes Chapel Cricket Club has been bowled over by a donation from Anwyl Homes. The club, which is less than a mile from Anwyl’s [Victoria Mills](https://www.anwylhomes.co.uk/our-developments/victoria-mills/) development, received £500 from the homebuilder to provide equipment and improve facilities for players. James Aspden, from Holmes Chapel Cricket Club, explained:
> “As more families have been moving to the village, we’ve been exploring ways of encouraging children to play cricket as it’s a great way for them to stay fit and active and make new friends. This year we’ve started two new junior teams – under nines and under 11s. With Anwyl’s help we’ve been able to source training equipment for them to help develop their skills and love for the sport. The funding also enabled us to reach our target and purchase a new electronic scoreboard – a real asset for all of our teams.”
The funding awarded to the cricket club was one of several grants distributed by the homebuilder via its ‘Love from Anwyl’ funding pot to help local not-for-profit organisations close to its Victoria Mills development on Macclesfield Road. Sales director for Anwyl Homes Graeme Gibb said:
> “Through our Love From Anwyl initiative we’ve helped a variety of good causes, including several with a sporting theme. Sports clubs, like Holmes Chapel Cricket Club, play an integral part in the local community. They can be a great place to meet new people, form life-long friendships and of course play sport. We’re happy to have been able to help the cricket club and hopefully inspire a new generation of players.”
Love From Anwyl is a voluntary scheme attached to 138 new homes being built at Victoria Mills, where two brand new show homes are now open to view. It’s in addition to local investment agreed during the planning process. See [www.anwyl.co.uk/victoriamills](https://www.anwylhomes.co.uk/our-developments/victoria-mills/) to find out more.
