A HANDFORTH charity project – helping adults with learning disabilities to grow new gardening skills has received a £1,500 boost from Anwyl.
A Handforth charity project – helping adults with learning disabilities to grow new gardening skills – has received a £1,500 boost from Anwyl Homes.
Time Out Group provides opportunities for its members take part in sociable and fun activities and has recently partnered with the Friends of Meriton Road Park to improve local green space. The funds from Anwyl will pay for support staff to lead 10 gardening sessions with Time Out Group members as well as funding a range of plants, gardening tools and a new litter bin. It’s one of the donations made by the housebuilder from its ‘Love from Anwyl’ funding pot to help local not-for-profit organisations close to its development at The Fairways. Anne-Louise Black, assistant charity manager for Time Out Group, said:
“We are a small charity based in Handforth that provides a range of activities and support for adults with learning disabilities. “Meriton Road Park is a valuable community green space, and we are delighted to be supporting the Friends of Meriton Road Park with further improvements. Our members are helping to design, plant and maintain decorative beds and planters and assist with the general upkeep and improvements at the park. “As well are enhancing the area for residents, the project is hugely beneficial to our members, providing opportunities for them to develop social networks and friendships, while encouraging independence and involvement in the local community. We greatly appreciate Anwyl’s support and thank them for another generous donation.”
Time Out Group has been working with vulnerable adults from throughout East Cheshire for the past 19 years and has been a registered charity since 2007. The charity also provides a friendly and welcoming space at its Drop In centre in Handforth for members to meet up, make friends and take part in activities. Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said:
“We are delighted to continue our support for Time Out Group with a donation to their gardening project at Meriton Road Park. The charity provides a brilliant service to the people of Handforth and the wider Cheshire East area. “Through the gardening project they are giving members the chance to meet new people and learn skills, all while helping to improve the park for residents.”
