# Advice weekend in Deeside ahead of Help to buy Wales deadline

HOMEBUYERS looking to take advantage of a final opportunity to use Help to Buy Wales are being encouraged to take action as the deadline for applications approaches.
September is currently the final month for homebuyers to complete a move using Help to Buy Wales. We’re hosting an event on Saturday, February 7 and Sunday, February 8, at Summers Bridge, to provide advice on the scheme. Those looking to buy a home from Summers Bridge, Deeside or Dol Derwen, Mold can benefit from the scheme.
Independent financial advisers and our home advisors will be on hand to offer free guidance to would-be purchasers about the scheme and the application process.
The event coincides with New Homes Week (February 2-8), which this year carries the theme ‘Power to Move’ – a national campaign to show house hunters the support on offer when buying a new build.
Graeme Gibb, sales director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said:
“Help to Buy Wales has been a real lifeline for so many buyers, but at Summers Bridge we’re now down to the final 10 plots that qualify under the scheme.
“This is very much a last-chance opportunity for buyers who need that extra support to get on the ladder. As we understand it, Help to Buy Wales e will close at the end of September, and all purchasers using the scheme must move in by this date. The
purchase process can take several weeks, so realistically, buyers will need to reserve their new home and apply for the scheme by the end of spring.
“With mortgage specialists at Summers Bridge across the weekend, people can talk through their options, understand what they can afford and leave with a clear picture of what’s possible.
“New Homes Week is all about giving people the power to move, and we want to show that there are achievable routes into homeownership.”
Under Help to Buy Wales, buyers can access an equity loan of up to 20%, interest-free for five years, meaning they only need a 5% deposit and a mortgage to cover the remaining 75%. The scheme is available on new homes priced up to £300,000, but purchasers must legally complete by the end of September to use it.
Summers Bridge forms part of the wider Airfields regeneration of the former RAF Sealand site and will eventually deliver 183 new homes. The community is already benefiting from major investment in the surrounding area, including the new Aldi supermarket, Greggs drive-thru and EV charging facilities.
Homes currently available under the Help to Buy Wales price cap include a selection of two and three-bedroom houses, starting from £214,995.
The Help to Buy Wales advice weekend will take place at the Summers Bridge sales centre in Deeside from 10 am – 5.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday, February 7 and 8. Show homes will also be open to look around.
